I would like to start with a huge thank you to the players. Without your participation there would not have been an Ontario Snooker Championship. With 62 players this could be the biggest field ever for the Ontario Championship. I would also like to thank Jim Wych & John White for opening The Corner Bank Sports Bar and Grill up to us and all the extra help they provided. A special thanks goes out to Presley Bacchus for helping me input scores so all the players where always up to date. I would also like to thank my Son Austin Edwards for keeping the tables brushed a blocked and for taking care of the electronic scoring for the Championship match. All in all I think we had a great Championship.

We started out with 62 Players on April 9 & 10 playing a Round Robin which consisted of 8 groups with each player playing two games against each one in their group. By the end of April 10th late into the evening we had our final 16 players that would play April 16th.

Our Final 16,

The day was full of great matches and with so many great players there will always be upsets. We found John Everekian out in the first round defeated by Fern Loyer, also one of the favorite's to be in the finals Floyd Ziegler went down three straight to Rajesh Maru. As some matches came down to the deciding frame there was a thunder in the room as  Phil Snache was having nothing to do with deciders completely steam rolling his way to the finals winning three matches by scores of 3-0, 3-0 & 3-0. Fern Loyer who we have not seen much of since his bad accident was quietly going about his business wining his first three matches by scores of 3-1, 3-1 & 3-0. The final match looked on paper that it could go a full seven frames but Fern found a gear that was just too much for Phil to handle. With a few runs of 50 plus the match did not last long as Fern came out on top with a 4-1 victory.

Congratulations Fern,

Great to see you back playing some fantastic snooker.

Along with Fern & Phil's winnings they both received paid entries into the Canadian Championship's starting April 24th in Montreal. Good luck to both of you and the rest of the Ontario players who are making the trip.

High break went to Floyd Ziegler with a 104
